September 11, 2008 marks
the seven-year anniversary of 9/11. There will be
several memorial events in the New York City
area to honor and remember the victims of
September 11th and to come together as a
community. I've included those that I
thought would be of most interest to our PA
family.

Signing of the beam

Starting in Battery Park on
September 10th & 11th with the "signing of the
beam" you can be a part of the National
September 11 Memorial and Museum. Add your
name to the steel beams that will be used in the
construction of the National tribute....click

WTC Site Memorial Ceremony and
Remembrance
World
Trade Center Site Memorial Ceremony and
Remembrance The official New York City
observance of the anniversary of 9/11 will
take place at the World Trade Center site on
the morning of Thursday, September 11th.
Thursday, September 11,
2008. Approximately 8AM through Noon.
Zuccotti Park Adjacent to the World Trade
Center site at Liberty Street between
Broadway and Church Street/Trinity Place
September 11
Remembrance at Trinity Church
Attend
a ceremony of remembrance at the historic
Trinity Church. At 8:46 AM, the church bells
will toll in honor of those who died on
September 11, 2001. A Eucharist for Peace
service will take place from 12:05-12:45PM.
An Evensong service of remembrance through
readings and song will be held from
5:15-5:45PM.

September 11
Services at St. Peter's Church
There
will be at least four public remembrance
services just about every hour, the first
service starting at 8:46am and the last public
service at 1pm. There will be two
special services for the Port Authority one at
2pm and an second service for Port Authority
Police at 3pm.

9/11 WTC Memorial
Annual Floating Lanterns Ceremony
The
New York Buddhist Church (NYBC) will present
a floating lantern ceremony led by Rev. TK
Nakagaki. This ancient custom is a symbolic
representation of respecting the lives that
have gone before us and also represents a
light of hope for peace and harmony. This
event is free and open to the public.
