Effective January 1, 2007, Laboratory
Corporation of America will be the only national in-network
laboratory services provider in the United Healthcare
network, with Quest Diagnostics no longer holding this
designation.
“LabCorp will participate with other
regional and local laboratories to provide a broad national
laboratory network,” said Employee Benefits Manager Mike
Cavalier. “As long as your physician uses one of the
participating in-network laboratories you will not see any
change.”
He stressed that if Quest Diagnostics,
or any other laboratory that is not part of United
Healthcare’s broad network, is used, the services provided
will be considered out-of-network.
“As such,” he said, “you may incur
increased health care costs.”
A list of UHC participating laboratory
locations is available at
uhclablocator.com or by calling UHC
customer service at 877 259-1391.
I am also including a link to the Lab
Corp. Website Locator page to find Lab Corp. facilities near
you. It is my understanding
that those on Medicare will not be restricted and can use
any lab for services.
