Some members have contacted us to
express some confusion over the Signal 8-2 club. We the Signal 8-2 Club
of Florida were formed and incorporated in Florida in June, 1987. Our
purpose is brotherhood and friendship. We attempt to accomplish this by
gathering together for social events (example; reunions) , and assisting
our members to communicate and stay in touch (example ;newsletter,
Membership Directory Etc.). We were formed by retired Port Authority
Police, for retired Port Authority Police and our Board of Officers are
all retired Port Authority Police.
So what is the confusion? Well many years ago, Jerry Barnickle lived in
Barefoot Bay, Florida and was very active in Signal 8-2 Club of Florida. At the time it was thought that a Web site and E-Mail database would be
a great benefit to the club. Jerry (with the help of Angie), the
expertise of a retired member, and support of the club initiated the web
site. Jerry and Angie worked hard over the years and developed an
excellent web page and e-mail list. Then came a bunch of hurricanes and
Jerry moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Also moving to Vegas was the web site,
newsletter and e-mail list. They are now being used by the Signal 8-2
West club that Jerry formed in Las Vegas Nevada.
Ed Sosa (GWB) is now our web master. He recently agreed to take on the
task of developing our web site and publishing our newsletter. He may be
