9/11

Lenore Price

9/11 was the Third attack on the United States. The first attack was on Pearl Harbor; the second attack was on the garage of the World Trade Center, which thankfully only killed and injured a few people. The mission was not accomplished. Knowing this, why didn’t the US and the remainder of the world know how dangerous these people from Iran are to this day?

Months before 9/11, I retired from the Port and applied for a job at JMU (James Madison University) in Harrisonburg, VA. A member of the personnel knew the manager at LGA, which gave me an excellent review. On 9/11, I was in my office in the Athletics Dept. when my phone rang. When I answered it, it was my husband saying I should get to a television ASAP. I ran to the head of the department, where a TV was on, and saw the second plane come in with the WTC coming down. I began screaming and couldn’t stop. Knowing this was a no-fly zone area and seeing what was happening, I was beside myself. Friends I knew on the floors hit were dead; others could not survive. What happened to our AF protection????

A very dear friend of my husband was running away from the debris in the street when a door opened and pulled him inside to his business. Our friend was completely covered in soot. If this man didn’t grab Eli, he too would have died. Why didn’t the US know we were under attack? This is the biggest memory of our loss I still carry and cry over since WW11.
