9/11

September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993

September 11, 2001 was one of the darkest days in American history when four hijacked planes crashed into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. These events rocked the entire world to its core. The terrorist attacks on our home, the World Trade Center, and its total destruction was the largest target that day and which suffered the largest loss of life: 2,753 members of humankind were killed. The total, combined tragic loss of 2,977 lives lost that day represents the largest loss of life from a foreign attack on American soil in our history. Sadly, on that day, the Port Authority lost 84 cherished colleagues and co-workers. On that day, the Port Authority pledged to never forget those we lost and our pledge continues to be as strong as it was on September 11th. The Port Authority also continues to pay tribute to those 6 colleagues lost in the first terrorist attack on the World Trade Center on February 26, 1993.
