In Memory of Barbara A. Cortese

February 2, 1953 - August 4, 2021

Barbara A. Cortese, 68, of Tinton Falls, NJ passed away on August 4, 2021 at Centra State Hospital. Barbara was born on February 2, 1953 to the late Joseph, a NJ State Trooper, and Magdalene Hall.

Barbara attended Monmouth Regional High School and Brookdale Community College and went on to be a manager with Acme Food Markets. Later she became a Toll Collector with the Port Authority of NY and NJ. After retiring she opened and operated a pet grooming shop, Bark Avenue Tails.

Barbara loved animals, leaving behind one horse, three parrots and three cats. She was also a crafts person extraordinaire. If you would think of it, she could make it. She was also known to make a great batch of brownies.

She is survived by her loving brother, William Hall and his wife Diana, her nephew, Pete, niece, Heather and her husband Jeff Green, and God daughter, Daniela and her husband Brett. Also surviving are many cousins and friends, Fran and Donna.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Joseph F. and Magdalene T. Hall, sister in law, Carol and many beloved pets.

She will be sorely missed for her wit, playful sarcasm, love of family and animals and pride she had in her Native American and Hungarian Heritage.

Visitation will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, NJ 07701 on Sunday August 8, 2021 from 2 - 6 pm. A service will be held at the funeral home on Monday August 9, 2021 at 11 am. Interment will follow at Shoreland Memorial Gardens in Hazlet.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in Barbara's memory to the Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724.
