In Memory of John Spolidora

John Spolidora, age 72, of Centerburg, OH passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Grant Hospital.

The son of Dominick and Jeanette (D’Beaggio) Spolidora, he was born on December 31, 1948 in Queens, NY. John was a proud U.S. Marine Corps. Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. During his service he earned a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one star, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, a Combat Action Ribbon, and the Cross of Gallantry with Palm.

He married Sharon K. Harvey at their home in Coram, NY on August 24, 1996, and together they have shared a loving 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Spolidora; children, Christy (Dave) Jackson, Sondra (Brian) Chumley, Jonathan (Christine) Spolidora, Robert Harvey, Virgil (Christa) Smith, Jonathan Smith, and Angela (Dante) Sparda; grandchildren, Jay (Erika) Jackson, Andrew (Shay) Harvey, Amanda Harvey, Cody Jackson, Dillon Jackson, Kyle Chumley, Morgan Chumley, John Spolidora, Christian Spolidora, Leo Spolidora, Elizabeth Harvey, and Peyton Smith; as well as three great-grandchildren, Ezra Jackson, Chloe Harvey, and Jax Harvey.

John retired from the Port Authority of NY & NJ in 2002. He had a special interest in radio-controlled helicopters, fencing, bonsai trees, making plaques for his fellow marines and telling jokes. He was currently working on restoring his 1966 Cadillac. His proudest achievements were being a marine and his children. John will be remembered for his strength, drive, honesty and his huge heart.

A graveside committal service with full military honors will take place at a later date.
