Ed Apanel, age 79 of Fruita, CO, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving wife, his three children, and his two beloved kitties. Ed was born on December 3, 1943 in Teaneck, NJ and grew up in Palisades Park, NJ. For his last six years, he resided in Toms River, NJ. He proudly served his country in the US Army and was a Paratrooper. Ed lived a very active fulfilling life where he worked mostly as a Brick Mason. After moving to Colorado, he built his own two story house in Norwood, CO. He loved to hunt, fish, and raise his own vegetables. He loved sports, coached little league, and played softball in an adult league.
In 1999, he married his former fiance, Theresa. They then moved to Fruita, CO and travelled extensively.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edward J. and Josephine Apanel; and four siblings, Leo, Billy, and Pat Apanel, and Suzanne Veritas.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 24 years, Theresa (Terri) Potente Apanel; his children, Colin, Hannah, and Aaron Apanel; sisters, Barbara O'Connell and Carol Mulieri (Rich); grandchildren, Kira Venose, Dayna Apanal, Christian and Talia, and Emma Josephine; and his great grandson, Anthony Venose. He is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Trish Apanel.
A celebration of life will be held at The Village at Country Creek Community Center, 1135 Periwinkle Lane, Fruita, CO on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 5-7 pm.
